From the frame to the pane, the whole surface
Cleaning a window is not just about the glass. We start by dusting and washing the frames, the grooves and the sills, because that is where the run-off comes from that will dirty a clean pane at the first rain. Seals are gone over, sliding door tracks cleared, and handles disinfected along the way.
The glass itself is squeegeed after wetting, a technique that leaves noticeably fewer marks than dry wiping on large surfaces. For old glass, screen-printed panes or bathroom mirrors marked by limescale, we adapt the product and the pressure rather than forcing it and risking a scratch.
Verandas get their own treatment: reachable roof panels, aluminium or PVC uprights, internal gutters and walls. The green algae and organic deposits that settle on outward-facing surfaces need a different product from the one used inside.
We cover everything reachable from the ground, a ladder or a step-stool, inside and out. Glazed facades needing a platform lift or rope access belong to firms specialised in work at height: we say so plainly rather than accepting a job we could not carry out safely.
Questions about glass cleaning
How often should windows be cleaned?
For a home, twice a year is usually enough — in spring and going into winter. A shop window or an office on a busy road needs a monthly rhythm, sometimes weekly where traffic deposits a lot of greasy dust.
Do you work at height?
We cover everything that stays safely reachable from the ground, a step-stool or a telescopic pole, which takes in the vast majority of houses, verandas and ground-floor shopfronts. Beyond that a platform lift is needed and the job falls outside what we do.
Can windows be cleaned in frost or rain?
Frost rules out outdoor work: the water sets on the glass and the result is poor. Light rain does not really affect the finish once a pane has been treated, but we would rather postpone than hand you work that will not hold.
Do you also handle mirrors and reflective surfaces?
Yes — bathroom mirrors, mirrored walls in gyms or shops, glazed doors and polished stainless steel. These surfaces show every fingerprint and need a dry microfibre finish after washing.
